Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/weather/2012/04/03/vosil-tx-tornado.wfaa
Here's what some of our neighbors endured yesterday. We were right in the middle of it all, but are all fine. Some of Fred's planes got hail damage and were grounded, but house, cars, kids and pets are all ok.

Glad we don't get those here.
Were there any casualties?

I saw that this morning and almost called you.
How utterly terrifying.
So glad it passed you by.

Glad you are all safe. That was a host of scary videos.

Of all the bad places for tornados to come down upon...

That would be terrifying answering the phone to hear you on the other end

You're just making the idea more appealing....

Terrifying video. Did you get enough warning and hide in the basement, or something? I have no idea what you're supposed to do.

Grab the family and pets and jump in the bathtub.
Sounds weird... but if you don't have a basement, which most southern homes don't, it's the safest place in the house.

That tells you how clueless I am about these things.

We lived in North Carolina where the water table is too high for cellars.
If you dug a foundation hole it would fill in no time.

River is right. You look for an internal room that has the least amount of windows and if it has plumbing then it is better. We actually use our half bath on the first floor when we are home.

The scary part was that the kids were at school (doing duck and cover in the schools internal hallways), Fred was at work (getting pummeled by hail) and I was at the library. We rounded up all of our patrons into an internal hallway in the staff area. They weren't happy.

The news does a play by play. at 1:55 it should be in Lewisville at 1:57 it will be in blah blah blah, etc.

I'm quoting this for Frd's benefit.

I remember huddling in our darkened house, no power, no water, listening to the the hurricane force winds lift shingles off the roof while plotting the track of the storm by flashlight.
I don't miss that.

did they teach you nothing on your way to become a PhD? River is never right!

River Girl said...

Don't argue with the doctor....

She is still the same to me. Nothing has changed
